CHURCH HILL - Carol Lynch Gilreath, 86, passed away on November 14, 2024, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer.
Carol was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 27, 1938, to her parents, Horace and Alice (Powers) Lynch. She retired in 1999 from Holston Valley Medical Center after 40 years of service. Carol was a long-time member of Church Hill Methodist Church and after her retirement, she gave her service as Parish Nurse to the church for many years. One of her many accomplishments was the organization and management of the Church Hill Children's Health Fair for many years. Carol was so proud that through this event, she helped provide health care services for hundreds of children in this area. Carol was also an avid cook with a sizeable collection of cookbooks. She enjoyed sharing her wonderful food creations with others, especially at family gatherings or special events.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas "Tom" Gilreath; and her brother, Richard Lynch.
Carol is lovingly survived by her daughters, Melissa "Missy" Teague (Curtis), and Amy Gilreath; grandchildren, Wesley Teague (Kaela), and Courtney Edwards (Joseph); great grandchildren, Sullivan and Harrison Teague, and Charleston Edwards; brothers, Glenn "Skip" Lynch (Rona) and Roman Lynch (Lynn) as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Heath Davidson officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Edwards, Dana Gilreath, Jimbo Gilreath, Greg Hammond, Jason Jones, and Mark Leonard. Honorary Pallbearers are Glenn Edward Lynch, Kenneth Gilreath and Lenard Gilreath. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:45 PM to go in procession.
