Carol Lavon Hitchye, of Edmond, passed from this life on March 12, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on July 10, 1943, in Tullahassee, Oklahoma, to Rosevelt & Mildred (Mustin) Hitchye.
Carol attended high school in Tullahassee and then went on to Langston University and graduated receiving her bachelor's degree in education. She had previously attended the University of Central Oklahoma, where she had received her associate's degree.
Carol was employed at Nichols Hills Elementary School and then went to Britton Elementary and retired after 35 years of service in education.
Carol loved the Lord and was a faithful and dedicated member of Crossroads Church. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching TBN. Carol enjoyed shopping and loved clothes, and she enjoyed dressing to the nines.
She enjoyed going on cruises. Carol loved socializing and being with friends. She was fun and had a zest for life. Carol had a kind, loving, and giving heart and an optimistic outlook on life.
She was a hard worker, a wonderful homemaker, and always provided for her family. Carol was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her first love was her Lord and Savior, and spending time with her family. She touched the lives of many with her loving personality and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Allan R. Davis, of Edmond; 3 brothers, Donald Ray Hitchye, Glenn Hitchye, and Clyde Hitchye; 2 sisters, Janice Hitchye, and Chasetta Hitchye; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosevelt & Mildred Hitchye; her son, Mark Davis; and her sister, Edwina Hitchye.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-8:00pm, on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, Oklahoma. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00am, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Crossroads Church, 8901 S. Shields Blvd., in Oklahoma City. She will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, in Tullahassee, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
