The loving angel of death came to visit Carol Howells, 95, of Zieglerville, PA, on November 29th, 2024. She took the angel's hand willingly, going in peace to meet her heavenly Father and be reunited with her late husband, Paul Howells.
Carol truly lived her life to the fullest. Spending her formative years in Nicaragua with her missionary father (and her favorite pet monkey), she grew up with a deep understanding of what it meant to work hard and love harder. She attended Salem College, where her yearbook showcased her tough love mentality by saying, "Carol can get work out of the laziest Salemite." This mentality followed her into her marriage and motherhood, where she solidified her role as the beloved matriarch for generations to come. Her clever wit and sassy remarks could put a smile on even the most curmudgeon of folk, and her radiant energy filled every room with a buoyancy that her loved ones will miss dearly.
Carol's life is a tribute to the fact that devotion, kindness, and a whole lot of humor are essential ingredients to a life well-lived.
She is survived by her four children, Carol Ivone and husband Rob Ivone, Ruth Howells-Schlechter, David Howells, and John Howells; niece, Pam Laudenslager; grandchildren, Brittney Fulmer, Haley Kalkbrenner, Christopher Sorbicki, Kelly Moyer, Heather Sides, and Amanda Howells; and great-grandchildren, Reagan Moyer, Hadley Moyer, Emmy Sides, and Rowan Sorbicki.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Howells; parents, Howard & Edna Stortz; and sister, Margie.
The family has chosen a private ceremony to celebrate Carol's life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the New Hanover Lutheran Church (2941 Lutheran Rd, Gilbertsville, PA 19525) in Carol's name.
