Carol Hutton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Christy Funeral Home - Millville on Apr. 9, 2025.
Carol L. Hutton, of Washington Township, New Jersey, and formerly of Hopewell Township, New Jersey, passed away at her home at Juniper Village at Washington Township on April 8, 2025. She was 74 years of age. Carol was born in Millville, New Jersey, graduated from Millville High School in 1969, and attended Elysee D'Academie de Vernon in France as an exchange student during her senior year of high school. Carol was a member of American Mensa and majored in French with a minor in Film History at Montclair State University and
studied at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University).
Following college, Carol taught in the Newark, New Jersey school system and later served as Director of the Cumberland County AVA Center in Bridgeton, New Jersey, and Director of the Salem County AVA Center in Salem, New Jersey. Carol retired in 2009 and continued working part-time as the Careers Librarian with the Cumberland County Library. She later founded CLH Media, as a media and technology consultant. She also taught business communications as an adjunct professor at Wilmington University from 2018 to 2020.
Among Carol's passions was her love of travel, with her favorite destinations including Maine, Vancouver, British Columbia, and Sanibel Island. She enjoyed attending paranormal seminars, ghost tours, and meeting paranormal celebrities while visiting Cape May, Gettysburg, and Fort Mifflin.
Carol never met a stranger, and her love of people and her outgoing nature led her to Soroptimist International of Cumberland County, where she enjoyed making new friends as she attended conventions across the country and met women from around the world.
Carol enjoyed life, people, music, animals, and all things chocolate! She enjoyed singing in choirs and recently performed during their Broadway Senior Revue – Raise Your Voice, at Juniper Village, singing for the residents and guests. She loved music not only through performing but also by attending concerts with her brother, Ward, with their favorites being Billy Joel and Elton John. She was a great supporter of animals, great and small, and until recently, her dog, Brodie, was a constant companion.
As the Careers Librarian with the Cumberland County Library, Carol's community service activities included teaching recently released inmates from local prisons how to write resumes and prepare for job interviews. She attended West Park Church in Bridgeton, NJ, and was very active in the choir and Vacation Bible School. As a member of Bethany Grace Community Church, she enjoyed participating in preparing and serving dinners and breakfasts to feed the needy.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Ward F. and Dorothy Hutton, and is survived by her brother, Ward R. (Debra) Hutton, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Relatives and friends will be received at Christy Funeral Home, 11 West Broad Street, Millville, NJ, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter/Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 North Delsea Drive, Vineland, NJ 08360. Memories of Carol and condolences for her family may be shared on her tribute wall.

I fondly remember Carol Lynn as the Director of the Cumberland County AVA when it was housed in the Cumberland County Superintendent's Office at Carlls Corner. She was very efficient and always was helpful to others.
