Carol Jean Jones

Carol Jean (Martin) Jones of Griffin, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on the evening of September 25, 2025.
Born in Griffin on February 26, 1945, Carol was the daughter of the late William Martin and Kathryn Thacker. She attended Griffin High School where she graduated fifth in her class of 1963 and was also lucky enough to meet the love of her life, Arthur B. Jones. The two slipped away to quietly elope on June 5, 1963, the beginning a life together that was sustained by love, faith, and family.
Carol was known to pour her heart into everything she did. She served faithfully on the board of St. George's Court, volunteered at voting polls, and as Treasurer of St. George's Episcopal Church. Beyond her titles and roles, though, she was best known for her kindness. Carol had a gift for making people feel cared for and her compassion extended to all living creatures, she never turned away from anyone, human or animal, in need of a helping hand.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur B. Jones; her mother, Kathryn Thacker; and her father, William Martin. Carrying on her legacy are her daughter, Kelley Hague; her grandchildren, Patrick Hague and Caroline Hague; and many dear friends and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.
A service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church on November 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to honor Carol's generous spirit with donations to St. George's Outreach, 132 N. 10th St., Griffin, GA 30223.
