Carol Lea (Haldeman) Knode, 81, of Huntingdon, PA, and recently a resident of the Shirley Home for the Aged, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025.
Born on December 28, 1943, in Williamsport, PA, Carol was the daughter of the late Curtis E. Haldeman and Thelma M. (Dunkelburger) Haldeman; and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Walter K. Knode, who passed away on October 1, 2024.
Carol is survived by her children: James P. Shook, Jr. of Huntingdon, Jay Shook of Alexandria, Lonnie (Shook) Oliver of Cambridge Springs, and Grant Shook of Huntingdon. She was also a proud grandmother to Conner Shook, Jacob Oliver, Keyariah Shook, and great-granddaughter, Dani Shook. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Cody Shook, in June 2023.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Curtis Haldeman, Jean (Haldeman) Douglass, and Duane Haldeman, previously all of Williamsport, PA.
Carol was a graduate of Williamsport Area High School. Afterwards, she went on to work for Penn Central (now First National Bank), where she made lasting contributions during her lifelong career.
Carol had a passion for crocheting afghans, which she lovingly made for family and friends. She cherished time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Known for her infectious smile and quick wit, Carol had a way of brightening the lives of everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
At this time, there are no plans for a Celebration of Life as requested by Carol. Instead, the family will be gathering privately to honor Carol's memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Carol's memory.
May she rest in eternal peace.
