Carol McIntyre, 79, of Bridgeport, passed away Monday morning, January 13, 2025, in River Oaks Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was born on September 24, 1945, in Norfolk, VA, as the oldest daughter of the late Clyde Allen and Ruth Eleanor Graves.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Carr and Judi's companion Jeff Rhodes of Mt. Clare; her son-in-law, Marvin "Mike" Miller of Shinnston; and her five grandchildren, Kristyn Blake, her husband Steven of Lumberport; Justyn Miller, his wife Elizabeth of Bridgeport; Robbie Carr, his wife Sara of Jane Lew; Ryan Carr, his wife Ashlyn of Fairmont; and Daniel Carr of Mt. Clare.
Carol is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Aubree and Amelia Blake; Evata, Robert "Bobbie" T., V, and Katie Ann Carr; Colson and Lakelyn Carr; along with her sister, Ruth "Pete" Adkins and Pete's husband Dan of Shinnston; along with several nieces and nephews and their children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Ann Miller; and her sister Mary Ann Findley.
Carol retired in 2009 as the Administrative Assistant at the Solid Waste Authority after over 30 years of service, and spent some of her retired time working with her daughter Judi at Kohl's. She was a former EMT and volunteer at Clay-Eagle EMS, and a volunteer with her late daughter Debbie with the American Cancer Society and with Judi with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Carol loved nature and the rush of the river while she caught trout fly-fishing. She loved to spend her weekends babysitting her grandsons Robbie and Ryan, her "Saturday Boys." She was a master gardener who loved to spend time with her hands in the earth tuning her seasonal flowers to different time of the Spring and Summer, and she was a member of Charity Baptist Church, Mannington.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 2 - 4 p.m., where a celebration of Carol's life will be held at 4 p.m. with Pastor Dan Adkins presiding.
