It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Jean Mihael who left us peacefully on December 31, 2024 at the age of 85 at St Mary's Hospital. Born on April 7, 1939, in Antigo, Wisconsin, Daughter of Helen Keough and Alfred Nelson who raised her. She preferred to be called by her middle name Jean. she lived a life full of love, joy, and dedication to her family and passions.
Jean is survived by her loving children, Penny Gardner, Maryann (Mike) Maly, and Tim (Penny) Mihael.
She was a proud grandmother to Tim, Angela, Ricky, Nicholas, Paige, Coley and a cherished great-grandmother to Reece, Deya, CC, Alina, Alex. A Sister Connie Haen and Brother George Auclair. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Mihael.
Jean and George were united in marriage on June 28th 1958 in Chicago Illinois where they made their home and started raising a family. After several years they moved to Streamwwood Illinois and in 1975 Jean and George purchased and operated Club Dubay a supper club in Mosinee Wi. After being in business for only about 6 months there was a devastating fire which destroyed everything. Back to Illinois they went for a few years to regroup. Then followed some friends and moved to Stoughton Wi in 1978 where they remained for the next 25 years. Jean worked at Millfab inc for many years and for the Stoughton school district in food services. She moved to Verona in 2006 and worked at Millers market in the Bakery and ended her working career providing food product samples at Costco.
Jean was a generous hard working individual, always putting others needs first, and always willing to help someone less fortunate then herself. Jean had a profound love for gardening and cooking, often spending her days tending to her beautiful flower gardens and preparing delicious meals for family gatherings, especially Greek dishes handed down from her mother-in-law. She also loved to go thrifting and could not pass up a good garage sale. Her home was filled with unique antiques/items she lovingly collected over the years, and she had a special fondness for cardinals, which she collected in various forms. Jean's affection for animals was evident to all who knew her, and she found great joy in their companionship.
Jean had a deep connection to Door county Wisconsin, loved the area dearly and often visited. A private family service will be held in the future in Door county.
Her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

I'm just reading this now. I'm sad to have had to say goodbye to my Aunt Jeanie. I'm filled with happy memories of times spent with her and all of you! Her meals were the best, holidays spent with you all were the best too! Her home interiors were lovely! She was always loving and welcoming to our family. Hope we meet her and Uncle George again someday. I'm so sorry for your loss of a dear mother.
