Carol Ann (Rowden) Miller, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend of Dixon, Missouri, passed away on Monday evening, October 20, 2025, at the age of 88.
Carol was born on October 30, 1936, to Ovid and Jessie (McKee) Rowden in the Wheeler Community, near Vienna. She attended grade school at Wheeler School House through 8th grade and then attended and graduated from Vienna High School, where she was crowned as Vienna High School's very first Homecoming Queen. After graduation, Carol worked in the office at Brown Shoe Company for a few years before going to work at the State Bank of Dixon, first in bookkeeping and then later a teller until her retirement at age 67.
On October 9, 1954, Carol married the love of her life, Lewis James Miller. Lewis and Carol were the proud parents of 3 children: Danny (Lisa) Miller, Kenny (Debbie) Miller, and Susan (John) Williamson. Carol and Lewis were lifelong lovers of Bluegrass music and traveled throughout Missouri and surrounding states, attending Bluegrass shows and festivals. Carol and Lewis also enjoyed traveling with family and friends to various vacation locations, including Tennessee, Hawaii, Colorado, Vermont, and New York. Carol was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in both Dixon and Wheeler. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends, fostering a loving environment. She had a playful and competitive spirit, and she and Lewis enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. She was a woman of great faith and kindness and showed love to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ovid and Jessie Rowden, three brothers, Wilburn, Herbert, and Harold Rowden, two sisters, Doris (Rowden) Finn, and Farris Jean (Rowden) Vaughan, and her son Kenny Miller. Survivors include her son Danny Miller and wife Lisa, her daughter Susan Williamson and husband John. Other survivors include her daughter-in-law, Debbie Miller; nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Kayla) Miller, Britny (Stephen) Washburn, Ryan (Annelise) Hollis, Missy Miller, Emily (Will) Holtsclaw, Alex (Haley) Miller, John (Missy) Williamson, Jeff Williamson, Keith (Sherry) Williamson, plus fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was a devoted wife and the cornerstone of her family, showering them with unwavering love and support.
A memorial service for Carol A. Miller will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Dixon, MO. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Dixon Cemetery Perpetual Fund.
