Carol Joyce Molison, 95, of Grinnell, died at her home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Grinnell United Methodist Church. A luncheon will follow in the Friendship Center at the church. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
The family will receive friends at the visitation held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 19th at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
Carol was born on February 8, 1930, in LeMars, Iowa, to Robert Ray and Constance Collins Totman. She was raised in LeMars and graduated from LeMars High School. Her love of music led her to continue her education at Westmar College and later at Drake University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music.
On December 26, 1957, Carol was united in marriage to Wilbur McLain "Mac" Molison in LeMars. Together, they made their home in Eldora and Winterset before settling in Grinnell, where they raised their two children, William Robert and Constance Margaret Molison.
A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Carol's care for others extended beyond her family. She later worked in various retail stores in Grinnell, always bringing warmth and kindness to those around her. A member various organizations, she volunteered for many meaningful charities and causes.
Carol found joy in the everyday beauty of life. She loved gardening, sewing, baking, and playing the piano. A quiet observer of nature, she took pleasure in observing her backyard wildlife, flowers and trees, and particularly the clouds and the breeze. An animal lover through and through, she shared her home with beloved dogs and the occasional stray cat. She was also a loyal and lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Carol is survived by her children, Bill and Connie (Ron); and grandson, Andrew McLain (Audrey). She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac Molison on February 8, 1985; her parents, Robert Totman and Constance Collins; and her in-laws, Wilbur and Miriam Molison.
Carol will be remembered for many things, but perhaps most importantly is the giving and receiving of hugs!
