Carol Ann Morano, 76, of New Britain, died on February 13, 2024, following a brief illness. Carol passed peacefully in a manner of her choosing. Just a week prior to her death, Carol celebrated her life surrounded by friends and family for four straight days. During that time, stories were told, arguments ensued, and love was shared. Most of all, Carol radiated kindness and peace to the over 100 visitors from all over the country.
Carol was born on July 4, 1947, in Hartford. She grew up in West Hartford with a large extended family full of love and proud of its Italian American heritage. She graduated from Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford and, in her 50s, earned a college degree and Master's degree from Central Connecticut State University. Carol worked for many years at Central and touched the lives of an untold number of students, faculty, and staff. In her retirement, Carol traveled, advocated for social justice issues, and volunteered for many causes, including knitting blankets for injured soldiers and veterans. Carol's actions were always directed at improving the lives of others. Carol was a woman of strong faith and conviction. She possessed a gentle loving, and generous spirit. As an associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph, she faithfully served her Church community for many years. Special to Carol was her blessings jar, which held the graces and gifts of each day, a practice she encouraged others to perform.
Carol took great joy in her grandchildren, including cooking and sewing with Lauren and Alexa and reading to Isabella. Carol created an extended "family" of friends including Lorraine Marti, Janet Bristow, Janet Stoddard, Helena Reilly, and Paula Richer, who lovingly took care of her during her last days.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, William and Armida Morano; her sister, Lorraine Morano; and her son, Brian Cahill. Carol is survived by her daughter Karen Sklarz, son-in-law Jeffrey Sklarz, granddaughters Lauren and Alexa Sklarz; and her son Kevin Cahill and granddaughter Isabella Cahill; as well as countless friends and family members. Her peaceful, loving presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, (February 23), at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to Sisters of St. Joseph, c/o Office of Mission Advancement, 650 Willard Ave., Newington, CT 06111 (www.sistersofsaintjoseph.org). Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com

To Carol´s family and friends.

Last night my wife and I were walking into the Bocelli concert in Hartford. We found Carol´s Mass card on the ground going thru security entering the concert. We assumed from her recent passing that her family or friends wanted her there. So if you are out there and dropped this card her spirit was sitting in section 121 with us and we wish you the very best.

Carol was my Beautiful Cousin.
ALWAYS Friendly and Kind- lots of Compassion and Love for Life.
Anytime that we talked, she always had a project to help someone!
Sadly, and many times for no reason but Our Own Lives- Family drifts apart & loses communication.
Regrets that it had been a while with Carol and I.
She will Always have a good place in my heart and memories.
May God Bless.

I only knew Carol for about a year and a half. However, she was one of the kindness and nicest people I've come to know during our brief encounters. She told of her plans and thoughts and she was a truly strong and wonderful person. I will miss her as I continue on this journey. May God bless her and keep her - in Christ name amen.

I am fortunate to have played a small part in Carol's life as one of her caregivers...she had a difficult decision to make and she did it with dignity and grace. She will always have a special place in my heart..
Rest in peace and love Carol.
Most Sincerely and with Love

To Carol´s family,
I remember Carol from over 60 years ago...I met her, along with Lorraine, at Hawk´s Nest Beach in Old Lyme. A great place to make new friends on vacation!
We were all so young..maybe around 12 or 13 years old?
What I remember about her most was her ready smile, her kindness, and especially, the devotion between she and Lorraine. They were so close. I loved being around them both.
I wish her family sincerest condolences and much peace - Carol will surely be remembered for the lovely person that she was and the light she shined on all.
Most fondly,
Ann (Liebig) Fahey
