Carol Ann Petrovich, 90 of Tacoma, WA passed away peacefully in the early morning hour on December 25, 2024. Her family was deeply moved by the beautiful blessing of her arrival in heaven in perfect time to celebrate Jesus’s Birthday and reunite with her beloved husband John.
Carol was born to her parents Paul and Lorraine Hendrickson on August 7,1934 in Paxton, Illinois. Carol’s family moved from Paxton to Tacoma in 1951-her senior year, where she graduated from Clover Park High School in June of 1952.
Following her graduation, a career path in the dental field provided opportunities for Carol that she thrived in for over 25 years. She received many commendations for her outstanding performance with Fort Lewis/Madigan Department of Dentistry. Her reputation was of loyalty and compassion for her patients as well as exceptional dependability, efficiency and qualities of leadership throughout her career. Carol loved her career and the many friendships she created over those years. In Carol style, she worked hard and played hard. She was known for her easy smile, big bright dimples, her heart-warming and hilarious antics and lifelong friendships.
On New Years eve 1955 Carol met the love of her life John. 6 months later, on June 30th they married at Holy Rosary Parish in Tacoma WA and celebrated 65 years of marriage in June of 2021. Carol and John had two Children, David and Cheryl. Family birthdays, holidays, home projects and many activities filled the years with memories. Carol seemed to be able to juggle it all from her career, to sporting events and activities for her kids/grandkids, sit down meals, weekly mass and many sweet relationships. Carol and John enjoyed a rich life together and were blessed to remain in their family home for 60 years.
Upon retirement Carol and John worked out at the gym 5 days a week, enjoying fitness and newly forged friendships, they golfed with pals weekly at the VA Golf Course and remained close to their Catholic Faith. Family, neighbors and friends occupied much of their life and it was not uncommon for them to be found helping those they loved with any variety of projects and enjoying drop-in visits. Carol thrived in her women’s Bunko, Bridge and Golf groups and it’s been said time and time again, that the “party started” when Carol’s jovial self-arrived and began instigating the fun.
Carol is survived by her son David Petrovich (Karen), daughter Cheryl Sheehan (Jim), Grandchildren; Jenny Schoeler (Michael), Greg Sheehan (Jaime). Her beloved Great grandchildren; Jaxon, Keaton and Tucker Schoeler and Hollis Sheehan. Sister-in-law Diane Petrovich and many treasured nieces and nephews.
We wish to acknowledge the great care Carol received in her last 2 years at Living Life Care Home and for the loving support of the Franciscan Hospice staff.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Church, Tacoma, on Friday February 21st at 1:00 pm, followed by a spirited celebration in the church hall.
