Carol Ann (Laurila) Schmeling, born on June 18, 1955, of Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, at the age of 70, surrounded by love and comfort as she was called home to Heaven.

Carol is survived by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 40 years, Dean M. Schmeling; her loving children, Anna M. Schmeling and Emily J. Karlson (Chris); and her cherished grandsons, Lucas and Jackson (Emily), who affectionately knew her as "Gamma." She also leaves behind her siblings Jeanne A. Laurila, David R. Laurila, Glenn A. Laurila (Elsie), and Elaine M. Laurila, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Laurila Sr. and Franciska H. Laurila (Kolodziej), and her brothers William J. Laurila Jr. and Robert J. Laurila (Marlene).

Carol graduated from Washington High School and earned her associate's degree at the Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing and later obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She dedicated 40 years to her career as a Registered Nurse, beginning at the Milwaukee County General Hospital and eventually retiring from Froedtert Hospital. Her compassion and warmth left a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends.

Carol will be lovingly remembered for her gentle heart and the joy she brought to everyday life. She had a deep love for gardening, music, and baking Christmas cookies. She found happiness in cooking for loved ones and never missed the chance to hunt for a good bargain while shopping. Above all, Carol cherished time spent with her grandsons, whose laughter and energy brought her endless joy. She had a gift for caring for those around her, and her presence brought comfort to many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation a cause close to Carol's heart. https://acpmp.org/

A Celebration of Carol's Life will take place on Saturday October 11 at Harder Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until the time of memorial service at 1:00 PM
