Carol Sheets Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center on Mar. 7, 2026.
Carol (Fisher) Sheets, Delaware, OH, passed away on March 6, 2026, after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Delaware, OH on March 9, 1941. She died two days shy of her 85th birthday. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Bertha Fisher, her siblings Walter, Ralph, Jr., Helen, Harold, Howard, Thomas, and Virginia.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jim; her daughters Leann (Randle) Hamon of Delaware, OH and Laura Sheets (Shane Wilson) of Bowling Green, OH; and grandchildren Aidin Kalbaugh and Rheyse Hamon.

Before marrying, Carol worked as a secretary to the Superintendent at Delaware City Schools. She met her husband Jim at a local bowling league. After admiring her for a year, Jim challenged her to an individual game, with the loser buying milkshakes. Carol won the game, but Jim says he was the real winner that day. Although she promised she would never marry a farmer (since she grew up in a struggling farm family), Carol and Jim were married on September 5, 1965.

Carol was a devoted farm wife, managing the finances and complicated taxes for decades. Once her children were old enough, she worked part-time at several local businesses, honing her leadership (i.e., bossiness) and networking (i.e., gossiping) skills. She was devoted to her daughters, supporting their extracurricular activities, including band, choir, drama, and more. Carol loved music and frequently attended live music concerts with Jim and her daughters. Even in the midst of her dementia, music brought her happiness. She loved to travel and experience new places. Every year, the family spent Spring Break in the Great Smoky Mountains, hiking, shopping, and playing mini golf. After retirement, Carol and Jim loved traveling the United States and Canada in their RV. Carol was the navigational authority for all their travels.

Carol will be remembered for her giving and generous spirit, her sense of humor, her memorable turns of phrases (loving called "Carol-isms"), loud sneezes, and forgetting where she hid the Christmas and birthday presents.

Carol has been in residence at Cotter House Worthington since July 2020. The Sheets family is incredibly grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at Cotter House and the friendships made with the families also caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer's.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter at in memory of Carol.

A gathering will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Snyder Funeral Center, Delaware Chapel, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Please visit www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com to share a memory and leave an online condolence.
