Carol Mae Whissel, 91, of Zanesville, formerly of Sonora, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 29, 1933, to the late Dwight and Mary Morgan.
Carol was a two-time cancer survivor and a woman of great strength and resilience. She worked for many years at the Shenandoah Inn, where she was known for her kindness and dedication. Carol loved knitting and crocheting and could often be found watching her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes play football. She especially cherished time spent with her family, whether during cookouts or simple gatherings filled with laughter and love.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Taylor and Carolyn (Thomas) McVicker; grandchildren Jason Taylor, Troy Taylor, and Aaron Taylor; great-grandchildren Eli, Lexi, Makenzie, Macie, Cole, Ali, Steele, and Ryder; a special nephew Chuck Morgan; and a dear friend Micah Fink, along with many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Whissel; daughter Jamie Whissel Cole; sons-in-law Larry Taylor and Ronald Cole; granddaughter-in-law Jacque Taylor; brothers Bill, Dwight, Larry, Daryl, and Don Morgan; and sisters Barbie Greuell, Shirley Morgan, Frances Jurkovich, and Norma Kemper.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at St. Paul's Cemetery, 1670 Bald Hill Road, Zanesville, Ohio.
