Sara S. Wallar, 84 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully at Clay Gardens Place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Sara was born on April 5, 1941, at home in Noble County. She is the daughter of the late Owen Garrett and Mary Susan (Graham) Reed. After graduating high school, Sara pursued higher education at Xavier University in Cincinnati, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education. Sara devoted her professional life to teaching within the South Zanesville, Newton, and Maysville School Districts, guided by a commitment to shaping and inspiring future generations. Sara truly loved her students and devoted herself wholeheartedly to guiding and caring for them. She took great pleasure in caring for her plants and cultivating her garden. Most importantly, she cherished the time spent with her family, finding her greatest joy in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson.
Sara is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Karen (Jeff) Smith, Kimberly (Philip) Barger, and Kathleen Tidd; her many grandchildren, Summer (Jason) Kastor, Holly Smith, Andrea (Reid) Bradford, Philip Barger, Joseph Barger, Jessica Tidd, Taylor Tidd, Maxwell Tidd, and Felix Tidd; her ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Sara is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wallar, who passed away on July 26, 1993; as well as her six siblings.
Visitations will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Ark Spring Baptist Church, 8085 Big Muskie Dr., (St Rt 284) Chandlersville, Ohio 43727. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM following visitations at the Church. Pastor Dylan Gibbs will officiate the service. Sara will be laid to rest at Ark Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.
