Carol Sue Wilmeth, affectionately known as Sue to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, in Duncan, Oklahoma. Born on October 23, 1949, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Sue's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and enduring friendships.
Sue was a cherished daughter of the late Earl and Gladys (Ivey) Stucks. She grew up in Alex, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Alex High School, laying the foundation for a life filled with curiosity and a love for learning. Sue's heart found its match when she married Charles Wilmeth on November 21, 1972, in Pauls Valley. Together, they built a life characterized by devotion and mutual respect until Charles's passing on January 26, 2021.
Sue's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her sons, Cody Wilmeth and his wife Anysia of Lawton, Chris Wilmeth and his wife Shannon of Sterling, and her daughter, Carol Picazo and her husband Daniel of Duncan. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will miss her warmth and guidance. She was a sister and friend to many, leaving behind her brothers Dale Stucks and his wife Cynthia of Mustang, J.D. Stucks of Lindsey, Jiggs Stucks of Alex, and her sisters Melba Schoolfield and her husband Jimm of Bixby, and Twyla Stucks of Fairland, Oklahoma. Sue was also a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Her brother Ray Stucks and sister Earlene Cofer preceded her in death, and they now welcome her to eternal rest. Sue's professional life was marked by her time working at various restaurants, but her true vocation was as a homemaker, where she excelled in creating a warm and inviting home for her family and friends. Her presence was a comfort and a joy to all who knew her.
Her interests were as vibrant and varied as her personality. Sue loved doing word search puzzles, an activity that reflected her love for words and her patient nature. Music was a constant companion in her life, providing a soundtrack to many cherished moments. Sue had a flair for entertainment, often putting on talent shows that showcased not just her own creative spirit but also encouraged others to shine. Sue was a social butterfly, her friendly and spirited nature drawing people to her. She loved going to the casino, not just for the games but for the vibrant conversations and the chance to meet new friends. Visiting with people wasn't just a pastime for Sue; it was her way of spreading joy and love wherever she went.
Those who knew Sue would describe her as friendly, spirited, and loving-a woman whose presence could light up a room and whose laughter could lift spirits. Her love for her family was her guiding force, and her actions reflected the depth of her caring and commitment to those she held dear. Sue's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the joy of friendship. As we say goodbye to Sue, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless ways she enriched our lives.
Sue Wilmeth's story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
