Carol Jean Woodruff, 73, of Apple Creek, passed away peacefully surrounded by family October 28, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, in Wooster.
Carol was born December 25, 1951, in Orrville, Ohio to Donald and Virginia {Cunningham} Markley.
Carol graduated from Waynedale High School and Kent State University. She began her career as an educator, during which she obtained her masters degree.
She married Galen Woodruff on June 12, 1976; he passed away in 2009.
Carol spent 35 years shaping young minds and touching countless lives as an educator in the Southeast Local Schools district. She retired in 2008. Carol loved to crotchet and go on long motorcycle rides. She watched Central Christian Church online. She loved her family, country, OSU & Waynedale High School Football and the Cincinnati Bengals.
She will be deeply missed by her children Eric (Amy) Woodruff of Mount Airy, North Carolina, Jason (Trista) Woodruff of Apple Creek and daughter-in-law Stephanie Woodruff of DeFuniak, Florida; grandchildren Randii, Justin, Anna, Abigale, Brylee, Garrett; great-grandchildren Vittoria and Ethan; siblings Cheryl (Roger) McCumbers and Jim (Caroline) Markley; many nieces and nephews and loved friends; and her dog Gracie.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Jeremy Woodruff.
Friends may call Monday, November 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Carol-Woodruff) with Chaplain Daron Butler officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apple Creek/East Union Fire Department or LifeCare Hospice of Wooster.
