ROCKFORD - Carol Zammuto, age 78, of Rockford passed away at home surrounded by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren on Friday September 29, 2023 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Rockford on June 16, 1945 to Frank & Arline (Carlson) Gedman. Carol grew up in Rockford, Illinois and attended West High School. She was the co-owner of Hair By Frank for over 50 years, with her loving husband. She attended King Arthur Baking and Cooking School. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, growing tomatoes and basil in her garden, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Frank M. Zammuto; children, Frank (Melanie) Zammuto and Teressa (Missy) Zammuto-Kolbe; grandchildren, Nicholas (Allie) Zammuto and Ava Zammuto; siblings, Stacy (Catherine) Gedman and Lana Phillips; sister-in-law, Rosalie Arbisi; additional family: Tara (Ben, Otis and Freya) Weston, Shannon (Ellis and Isla) Gedman, Christopher (Becca and Colin) Phillips, Mark (Laura, Ethan and Jocelyn) Phillips, Richard Manzullo, Mary Lynn Juliano, Geraldine West, Jerry (Cindy) Juliano, Rosalie Dammann, Gina (Lora Rollins) Marinelli, Peter (Heather) Provenzano, Mia Bella, Annelise, Eleri and A.J. Provenzano, Ashley (Patrick) Ratz, Steven, Theresa & John Paul Zielinski, Mary Cayli, Charity Dammann, Tom Mariano, Charles Mariano, Renata Mariano, Jon Price, Michael (Chris Naughton) Marinaro, Rosemary (Dave) Mangun, Bill (Marlene) Dixon and Conni (Bruce) Hofeldt-Rowe. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank & Arline (Carlson) Gedman.
To the many additional cousins and loving extended family and friends who have not been recognized above, we love you all!
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony Church in Rockford, Illinois, at a date to be announced later. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Northern Illinois Hospice.
