Carole Jean Mauller (81) died peacefully on April 6, 2024 surrounded by her family. A resident of Shelby Township, formerly of Warren and Grand Ledge; she was born July 3, 1942 in Fremont Michigan to Wilson and Elsie Kirk.
Carole graduated as Salutatorian of her class at Caro High School in 1960, and attended Michigan State University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1964. While at MSU, she met her husband Donald Mauller. They were married July 20, 1963 at St. John Catholic Church in East Lansing. Carole taught Shorthand & Typing in Livonia for several years before pursing her true calling by going back to Lansing Community College for her Nursing Degree. She spent over 30 years as a Register Nurse specializing in Cardiology before retiring in 2012.
In her free time, Carole enjoyed gardening, reading and was a whiz at crossword puzzles. Through the years she sewed, knit, and crafted many special gifts for family and friends. None more special than the individualized quilts she handmade for each of her six grandchildren. She was a terrific pianist and provided the accompaniment for many singalongs at the family Christmas celebrations she and Don hosted in Grand Ledge.
Carole is the devoted wife of Donald; loving mother of Cynthia Gaioni, Julie (Brian) Rogers, Gregory (Marcia) Mauller and Kristine (John) Hall; the adored grandmother of Tony and Rosie (Liam) Gaioni, Kate and Will Rogers, Alex and Emily Hall; the beloved sister of Ken (Carol) and Randy Kirk. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Elsie and her brother Rick.
Carole was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her kindness and warmth, her ever present smile and her sunny disposition.
