Carole Ann Richards, 82, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on September 23, 1942, Carole lived a life filled with warmth, humor, and love for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jerry Richards, in 2007-a loss she carried with enduring devotion.
Carole is survived by her loving brother Ken Tayce (Ruth); her children Angela Schumacher (Mitch), Robin Nobles, and Deron Krietemeyer (Dina); her grandchildren Chelsea (Tyson), Sam, Hannah, Nick, Anna, Neil, Lorelei, and Mia; and her great-grandchildren Nixon and Zoey. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Carole retired from Florence Fire and EMS, where she served as an administrative assistant to the chief. Her dedication, kindness, and professionalism left a lasting impact on her colleagues and community.
When she was not working or spending time with family, Carole pursued other interests. She loved singing and was a dedicated member of several local choruses, including the Sweet Adelines. Her voice brought joy to those around her, and music remained a source of happiness throughout her life.
Carole's love for Disney was equally strong, and she and Jerry travelled to Disney as often as possible. For Carole, these trips were not just vacations-they were an expression of her youthful spirit and sense of wonder.
Laughter was her most enduring gift. Carole had a rare talent for finding joy even in life's challenging moments-and for never taking herself too seriously. She left those she met with a lasting example of the value of a light heart and a bright spirit.
In her later years, Carole resided at Colonial Heights in Florence, Kentucky. There, she was well-known and well-loved for her outgoing personality and the infectious sense of humor that brought people together.
A private graveside memorial was held on June 7, and Carole was laid to rest beside Jerry at Highland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Her light lives on in the hearts of those she loved, and her laughter will echo forever in their memories. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Carole, please visit our Tree Store.
