Carolyn Sue (Berning) Bannister, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 at North Park Nursing Center.

Carolyn was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 10, 1941 to the late Ed and Lois (Wollems) Berning. She was a graduate of Bosse High School. Carolyn retired from Mead Johnson after over 20 years of service. Her favorite pastime was traveling, especially on gambling trips and bowling tournaments. Carolyn also enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Those that loved her knew she had a sweet tooth for her Werther's candy. Carolyn will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Diana Pierson of Evansville, IN; son, Greg Bannister (Jane) of Evansville, IN; brother, Ed Berning, II; grandchildren, Ashley Bannister (Austin Marion), Jason Pierson (Mary), Michelle Moll, and Daniel Bannister; and great-grandchildren, Kyler, Brooklyn, Kaysen, and Oliver Pierson, Elijah and Greyson Galloway, Brooklyn Moll, and Karson Marion.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 55 years, James Edward Bannister.

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711, with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:00 am until service time on Friday.

The family would like to thank the staff at North Park Nursing Center for their compassionate care.
