Carolyn Buel, age 79 of Jefferson City, Missouri passed away on April 2, 2025, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center in Jefferson City. She was born on September 26, 1945 in Junction City, Kansas because her father was training to go to World War II. She was a premature baby that weighed only 3 pounds. Carolyn was born to the late Marguerite (Leuthen) and Theodore Strobel.
Carolyn went to Saint Peter Catholic grade school. She graduated from Jefferson City High School. She went to Capital Business College and studied to be a secretary. After that, she went to cosmetology school and became a hairdresser. She met the love of her life, the late Tom Buel, and they got married November 6, 1965, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
When Tom first asked Carolyn out on a date, he told her his name was Tom terrific, and she believed it at first. Tom and Carolyn Buel were married for 51 years. Tom proceeded her in death in 2016. They have three children: Veronica Johnson (William), Vanessa Porter (Tom) and Brandon Buel. Grandchildren include Dalton Veit, Alex Kuhn (Cody Kuhn), Dylan Peak (Stephanie Peak), Tyler Porter (fiancé Morgan Butterfield), Bryson Buel, Theodore Buel, Stephanie Owen and Drake Foster. Great grandchildren include Reed Porter, Owen Kuhn, Callan Kuhn, and her future great grandson Waylon Thomas Peak. Carolyn always enjoyed spending time with her entire family. She loved having family get-togethers and enjoying a good meal together.
Carolyn was a devoted wife and caregiver for her husband who had Parkinson's for years. Carolyn was a devoted caregiver for her parents when they suffered illnesses. Carolyn also took in Tom's aunt Edna to live with her and Tom and they cared for her. Carolyn's great joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Carolyn had a generous heart and was always helping others. Carolyn enjoyed playing the accordion as a hobby. Carolyn was a friendly happy person that loved visiting with family & friends.
She always had a smile on her face and had a flower in her hair.
Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in Jefferson City. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Very Rev. Christopher L. Cordes as celebrant. The burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
