Carolyn Marie Carine of Springfield, MO was born to Arthur and Marie Carine on November 27, 1937, Staten Island, New York. She passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023 at 85 years of age.
She is survived by her loving brother Arthur George Carine, Jr., adoring sister-in- law Ann Marie (Keenan) Carine and the jewels of her life, nieces, and nephew: Arthur George Carine, III, Bethann (Carine) Metro, Allyson (Carine) Soldo, and Tricia (Carine) Scarlata and six great nieces and nephews. In addition to her immediate family, Carolyn is also survived by some of the best, most loyal friends one could ask for: Mary & Robin Luke, Ann Woody, Miles & Karen Sweeney and their families, to name just a few.
Carolyn loved life and lived life to the fullest!
She grew up in Weehawken and Monmouth Beach, NJ with fond memories of Kingswood Road, family holidays and traditions, summer pool parties and BBQs, from the consummate hosts, her parents.
She graduated from Seton Hall University with a BS in Nursing in 1956. She and her friend, Arlene then traveled to Heidelberg, Germany, where they worked for the American Military hospital. They made many friends and had wonderful adventures. Carolyn developed a love of travel and a respect for the peoples of other nations. She was always game for an adventure and took up aviation at an early age and literally flew the coop to Missouri in the early seventies.
She eventually became the head nurse at the Springfield Regional Center. She developed a lifetime commitment to work with children and adults with developmental disabilities. She was later recruited by the Burrell Center to begin an adult Day Treatment Program for people with mental health conditions. She continued to work with the Burrell Center in various administrative roles until her retirement at age 65.
After her retirement, she continued to work with the programs of Sporting Chance and the AIDS Project of the Ozarks as an active board member. She began to breed and show her precious dogs, Schnauzers (two of which were family namesakes: Artie & Marcelle) She was fortunate to raise two champions.
Carolyn was a person who was passionate about her friends, her family, her pets, jazz music, The Springfield Symphony, college basketball (especially her beloved Lady Bears!), her church, travel, and for those who were less fortunate.
Springfield was Carolyn's home away from home, where her friends became her family. She was blessed to have the most loyal, loving best friend and caretaker in Mary Luke and her husband, Robin. Under Mary's care, she was able to rest easy and is at peace.
