Carolyn Marie Denning

Carolyn Marie Denning, 81, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Carolyn was born on July 24, 1943. She attended St. George and Christ the King schools and graduated from Loretto High School in Louisville. She attended Loretto Junior College in Nerinx, KY and graduated from Webster University in St.Louis, MO. She was a member of the Loretto Community for 5 years. Carolyn also earned a master's degree in political science at the University of Louisville.
Carolyn taught 7th and 8th grade at Guardian Angels grade school. She met her husband when both taught in the WIN program, preparing women to successfully pass the GED exam. She worked at the city of Louisville City Action Line, was the clerk of the Board of Alderman (before merger), and spent years at Metro Parks Department in the Planning and Design office. After retiring in 2002, Carolyn volunteered or was employed by a non-profit Dreams With Wings, the Cathedral of the Assumption and Good Shepherd parish.
Carolyn is survived by her son Robert Denning; sister Mary Anne Luckett Riehl; sister-in-law Norma Luckett Crain; beloved Cullen/Luckett/Denning cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Denning; and her son Andrew (A.C.) Denning; brother Albert Luckett; her parents Ruth Cullen and Martin "Jay" Luckett and Denning in-laws.
Visitation is at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd, St. Matthews, on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 from 1-5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn's honor to Sisters of Loretto, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Cathedral of the Assumption, The Olmstead Conservancy, Dreams with Wings, or Cabbage Patch.
