There will be a procession to Lakeside Cemetery. Following the burial, a luncheon will be served back at the church.
Carolyn was born the daughter of Maurice and Lillian Holzman on January 6, 1938. She graduated from Holly High School in 1956. It was there she met the love of her life Jack. She married Jack Gmelich on September 27, 1958. Together they had three daughters and six grandchildren.
Carolyn worked at General Motors after high school for 5 years until she left to raise her three daughters. She later worked for Holly Area Schools as a parapro for 23 years. Upon retiring in 1995 Carolyn and Jack spent 20 years in Florida where she made many friends and was involved in many activities. She looked forward to visits from her children and grandchildren.
Carolyn lived her life to the fullest. She had an undeniable spirit and light about her. She made friends with everyone she met. She loved her family, teaching children, her church and her two beloved dogs Maggie and Daisy.
She has many fond memories of her childhood and her bond with her sister Georgia.
Marrying her soul mate and her 3 daughters were her greatest accomplishments. She cherished her grandchildren and was so proud of each one. She was their biggest fan at their sporting events.
She found so much joy in family gatherings, playing bingo, card clubs, casino trips, golfing, bowling, snowmobiling and gardening.
She was a member of Holly Calvary Methodist Church. Where she taught Kids Club up until last year.
She was a member of the American Legion in Holly.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 65 years Jack. Her children Jackie (Roger) Coleman,
Terri Young and Kathy Sue (Jeff) Richards. Her six grandchildren, Karly, Jack, Ashley, Colton (Annalisa), Craig (Katie), Kaily and her bonus grandson Elijah. Great-grandson River. Her beloved sister Georgia Carnes. Many nieces and nephews. Numerous special friends.
Carolyn was a social butterfly and was her happiest when she was "on the go".
She will deeply be missed by everyone who was blessed to know her. We are left to cherish the numerous memories we have of her.
