Carolyn Mae Hunt, born September 11, 1950, earned her beautiful butterfly wings on Wednesday,
January 11, 2023.
Born to the late William and Leah Pollard, Carolyn grew up in Pleasant Valley Arcola, Virginia. She is
survived by her four loving sisters whom she often called "her girls": Billy Cecchini (Larry) of Leesburg,
VA, Sharon Jarrett (Jim) of Richmond, VA, Margaret Purcell (Mark) of Australia and Nola Watkins of
South Boston, VA.
She also leaves behind her two sons, Robert Pollard (Heather) of Richmond, VA and Paul Hunt (Jessica)
of Salisbury, MD. She lived near Paul and Jessica in her later years so that she could enjoy and play with
her four precious grandchildren: Layla, Leah, and twins Lilyanna and Luna. She loved watching them
grow up and all the days she spent playing, painting and laughing with them. Carolyn had a general love
and zest for life that she showcased in whatever adventure came her way. She loved talking with people
and found the most joy in the simpler things in life, talking with friends, photographing nature, listening
to music, finding a great "deal" at a yard sale, and cooking. Carolyn was a fabulous cook and was
affectionately called by her sons: the "Bubba Shrimp" of crabmeat from their early days living on the
water in White Point Beach, Maryland.
She was blessed in her middle age years to have found a wonderful life partner in Paul Combs. She and
Paul were happiest at home in St. Mary's, MD which they affectionately called Critter Corner; where
they spent days and evenings tending their yard, growing beautiful plants for her butterflies to enjoy,
and naming and tracking all the critters that came into their yard. Carolyn's love and laughter will be
missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life, planned for Saturday, April 15, 2023 at
Circle Center Adult Day Services at 4900 West Marshall Street in Richmond, VA. At 1pm
