Carolyn Maria Lirette passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Crosset, Arkansas, to John F. Huber and Helen Cryar Huber, Carolyn lived a life filled with grace, generosity, and music.
A devoted mother, Carolyn is survived by her son; Scott Lirette and fiancé Tracy Davis of Austin, Texas, her daughter; Michele Lirette and wife Jamie Lowry of Murchison, Texas, and two grandchildren; Scotty and Angelina Lirette. She is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Huber, as well as her parents.
Carolyn resided in Lake Charles, Louisiana for 24 years and in 1967 she moved to Houston, Texas where she began her teaching career and spent over 30 years shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. Her passion for education was matched by her love of music. She was a gifted, musically inclined soul who found great joy in singing in the church choir and sharing her voice with others. A devoted reader, and lifelong learner, she valued knowledge, kindness, and the simple beauty in everyday life.
She adored her loyal companion, Boots the Cat and extended her compassion to all living things. Known for her boundless generosity and loving spirit, Carolyn gave freely of herself to family, friends, students, and neighbors.
She faced a lengthy illness with courage, and grace, embodying the strength and resilience that defined her life. Carolyn's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A graveside service and Catholic Final Blessing of the Grave will be held June 21, 2025 at 2:00PM at Beauregard Cemetery, where her family and friends will gather to honor her legacy and celebrate the life she has lived giving to others. Arrangements are under the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home, DeRidder, Louisiana.
