Carolyn Miller, a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on October 10, 2024. She passed peacefully in her home at The Terraces of Phoenix.
Carolyn was born on August 7, 1934 in Evansville, Indiana. She was the youngest of six children and loved having the care and friendship of her siblings throughout the years. She moved to Oma ha, Nebraska at an early age with her family. Her sweet-dimpled smile and her love for everything social led her to become the prom queen of her high school. But it was her involvement in the youth group at her church where she would meet and marry the love of her life, John Alan Miller. Together, they raised three children, making many memories with them. Whether it was going to their cabin on the lake or hitting the slopes, Carolyn shared her sense of adventure and love of traveling with her family.
John and Carolyn moved to Arizona in 1979 for John's career. Carolyn enjoyed making her new home a place where grandchildren's laughter could be heard, and friends and family could gather. She loved entertaining and had the gift of making anyone who walked into her home feel truly special, not to mention her cooking talents that she lavished on her guests and family. Carolyn's life work was to make one-of-a-kind experiences for those she loved. She also established and passed down rich traditions in her family, a few favorites being "early Thanksgiving" in Sedona to enjoy the changing colors of fall, and beach time in California over Independence Day. No matter the celebration, she remembered every detail and cherished the time with her family. On Carolyn and John's 50th wedding anniversary they surprised their kids and grandkids with a Disney Cruise to the Caribbean. It was an unforgettable time for everyone.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Diane Silashki (Dan); son, Paul (Barb), son-in-law, David Scholl; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In her death she is reunited with her husband of 71 years and her daughter, Cindy Scholl. Carolyn would want to recognize her caregivers, Lidia S., Allie F., and Lydia B., for their care, kindness and love they gave.
There will be a graveside Celebration of Life for Carolyn on Friday, October 18th at Paradise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Carolyn's name to the Christian Family Care Agency.
