Carolyn Owen Purvis, age 80 of Paris, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, in Martin. Her visitation will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There will be a private graveside service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jim McCampbell, Kelli McCampbell, Bryson Dean, Briley Dean, Marshall McCampbell, and Kenneth Paschall.
Carolyn was born May 22, 1945, in Paris, to the late Ray "Pete" Owen and the late Doris Mikel Owen Williams. She married Robert Purvis on June 2, 1963, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2012.
Carolyn was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris. She was a military wife who moved frequently before Robert's retirement. She worked until 2014 and retired as a Quality Consultant. She was an avid reader and loved her family.
She is survived by daughters: Lora (Jim) McCampbell of Paris, and VJ Purvis (Jillian) of Asheville, NC; grandchild, Kelli McCampbell of Paris; great-grandchildren: Bryson Dean, Briley Dean, and Marshall McCampbell; sister-in-law, Betty Sharp of Winchester, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Lisa (Ed) Springer.
Besides her parents and husband, Carolyn was also preceded in death by her brother, John E. Owen, who was killed in the line of duty on August 4, 1962; three grandchildren: Robert Pierce McCampbell, Jim Houston McCampbell, and Kathryn Elizabeth McCampbell; and nephew, Mikel Owen.
