It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cassandra Yvette Johnson-Peeples, who left this world on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on December 1, 1957, in
Jacksonville, Florida, Cassandra was a devoted mother, loving wife, and cherished friend whose life was marked by her unwavering love for family and her generous spirit.
Cassandra was a proud graduate of Jean Ribault High School, class of 1975, in Jacksonville, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to nurturing others. She devoted her career to education, working as a Pre-School Teacher, where her passion for instilling knowledge and values in young minds shine brightly. Her impact on the lives of countless children and families will always be remembered.
Cassandra's love for her family was boundless. She was known as the Godmother to the entire neighborhood, always extending her warm embrace, open door, and generous heart. Family gatherings were filled with laughter, love, and her delicious cooking, as she relished the opportunity to feed everyone who crossed her threshold. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, proudly cheering for her team with unyielding loyalty, a testament to her spirited nature. One of her favorite songs was "Clean Up Woman" by Bettye Wright, a reflection of her love for music and dance.
Traveling was one of Cassandra's greatest joys, as she sought to explore new places and create lasting memories with her family. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were contagious, making every moment spent with her a treasure.
Cassandra was the daughter of Earl Johnson, Sr. and Clara King, who preceded her in death, along with her son, Darryl Johnson, Sr., her grandson, Darryl Johnson, Jr., and her beloved brother, Marvin McGill. Despite these heart-wrenching losses, Cassandra's legacy continues through her surviving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, James Peeples; her children, Roderick Johnson, Kenyon Johnson (Jamie), and Bernard Johnson; and her grandchildren, Nikeriya, Onli, Keith, Kayla J., Kayla P., Kemari, Keyonna, Bernard Jr., and Jamariyn. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Carolyn Howard (Lionel); and brothers, Earl Johnson (Sylvia), Danny Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, and Charles Johnson; and brother-in-law, David Beeks. Cassandra will be missed deeply by her best friend, Debra Townsend; her godson, Kelvin Howard; her special nephew, Lil Earl; her special niece, Shana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who grieve her loss.
She will be forever remembered for her kindness, strength, and the immeasurable love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her. Cassandra Yvette Peeples may have left this earthly realm, but her spirit will continue to inspire all of us to love fiercely, laugh often, and cherish the precious moments we have with one another. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
