Nathaniel Oliver Mabry, Sr., 79, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. He was born in Manor, Georgia in 1945 to Nathaniel Oliver Mabry and Faye Williams Mabry. After the untimely death of his father in 1948, Oliver's mother was remarried to Woodrow Dyal in 1950 and the family eventually settled in Jacksonville.
Oliver attended Jean Ribault High School where he played Varsity football. He graduated in 1965 and worked a time with Union Oil until taking over his step-father's business, Dyal's Truck Stop at Edgewood & Old King's Road. Oliver spent years growing the business, adding multiple wreckers and acquiring nearby properties until 1990 when the economy and changing environmental laws forced its closure. Oliver returned to being an over the road truck driver and found the view from the steering wheel much less stressful. He eventually went to work driving for Merita Bakery where he happily stayed until his retirement in 2012. Never one to sit still, he later opened Oliver's Outpost Antiques and enjoyed collecting treasures and making new friends right up until the end.
Preceded in death by his children, Gina McGee & Mike Mabry (Nathaniel, Jr.) he is survived by 1 son and his wife, Sean & Dessica Mabry; 5 grandchildren: Mabry Burch (Josh), Jeff McGee, Nat Mabry, Amanda Hale (Josh) and Celia Mabry; 2 great grandchildren: Ryan and James; 1 sister: Kaye Baker; 1 cousin Johnnie Hagan, and a host of friends.
Celebration of life service will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Peeples Event Center, 14165 N. Main Street with Rev. Leon Roberts, officiating.
His family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM and from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday.
Graveside burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Oakland Cemetery in Waycross, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to cancer and stroke treatment.
