Castee Basham, age 82, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away at Baptist Health Corbin on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
Castee was born in Stearns, Kentucky on January 8, 1941 to the late Melvin Richard Basham and the late Ersie Mae (Coomer) Basham. He was a retired coal miner and had served 8 years in the United States Air Force. He was very handy when it came to woodworking, he was an excellent carpenter and could custom engrave rifle stocks. He also built custom furniture by hand. 
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Brenda Godsey; a brother-in-law, Lenville Slaven; a son-in-law, Darrel Tucker; and his second wife, Fern Basham. 
Castee is survived by his son, Timothy Allen Basham, of Revelo; his daughters, Stephanie Tucker, of Marshes Siding, Lori Shepherd (Chris), of Nicholasville, Kentucky; brothers, Orville Basham (Deloris), of Louisville, Larry Basham (Shirley), of Maytown, Pennsylvania; a sister, Barbara Slaven, of Shelbyville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Aaron Tucker (Lisa), of Pioneer, Tennessee, Shelly Stewart (Chris), of Oneida, Tennessee, Emily Ridner (Josh), of Parker’s Lake, Jonah Shepherd; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and his first wife who is the mother of his children, Alma (Anderson) Basham. 
Castee’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 2:00pm in the chapel of the McCreary County Funeral Home. Friends may come for visitation after 12pm Tuesday. Burial will be in the Angel Cemetery in Stearns, Kentucky
