"A Story of Catherine Figaro"
This is Catherine Figaro. She was born and raised in a small village called Thibaud in the Commonwealth of Dominica on November 25, 1934. She was raised on an old country farm by both of her parents, Marguerita Louison and Alexander Figaro. She is survived by her siblings, Edward Figaro, Ross Figaro, Mascole Letang, Edward Figaro and Hilliar Letang Thomas.
Catherine was the beloved mother of six children including Gretha Thomas, Magdalene Mary Joseph, Decima Joseph, Julia Joseph and Desmond Williams.
Catherine Figaro lived all her young adulthood in Roseau, Dominica. She was self-employed, working for herself all her life, buying products and reselling items. She worked hard all her life to provide for her children. Life wasn't always easy. Life was tough but she never gave up. By the grace of God, she did it all to the best of her ability. Catherine lived her life devoted to her children.
Catherine was the kindest person on earth. She was a giver, not a taker – always showing self-respect, caring, giving, and volunteering to help. She was a devoted mother with a caring heart. She would give you the last dollar she had just to help you. She was one of a kind with a very big heart.
Catherine lived the Bible life – owing no one anything but to love one another. She never took a loan. She just lived a simple lifestyle, debt free for her whole life.
Catherine Figaro was remarkable. She was a very interesting lady. She enjoyed conversations with others, and she always left you with a smile.
Catherine came to America in 2005 and lived with her daughter, Decima Joseph; son-in-law, David LaRonde; and grandsons, Marlon LaRonde and Damian LaRonde, until her death on October 28, 2023. She lived her elder years with her family. Catherine had been bedbound for 8 years, suffering from a broken ankle and dementia. She was a strong lady who fought a good fight battling dementia until her last breath at the end.
Catherine Figaro leaves behind 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. With sympathy for the loss of our mother – you are not far, you will always be near in the memories that we hold most dear and in the hearts that still care. In love that goes on..you will never be far, you will never be gone. We will be comforted in the memories of you and in being so remembered, may your legacy live on with caring thoughts and sympathy.
MaMa, you may be gone but your children and family still love you. There is no more pain. Rest in peace Catherine Figaro. You will surely be missed. Amen and amen.
