Age 102, of Highland Park, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Lee S. Gentilcore; loving mother of Marlene Gentilcore, Lee J. Gentilcore, Mary (Ted) Kaczorowski, and the late Kathleen (Tom) Ruben; grandmother of Ray (Megan), Christine, Sean (Erica), Julia (Dave), Neil (Hilana), Michelle, and Nicholas; great grandmother of James (Becky), Jacob, Jonah, Max, Benjamin, Elisheva, Eliza, Madilyn, and Abbey; great great grandmother of Simon; sister of the late John; daughter of the late John and Mabel Eldredge. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will remain private. Interment at Mt. Caramel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or Blind & Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh. Kitty was a unique and special person in my life. I worked with her for several years at the Podiatry Hospital of Pittsburgh. She was a gifted, humble and "no-nonsense" caregiver. You could always count on her getting the job done properly and with compassion.
For a few years she was a patient of mine and true to her reputation, a "no-nonsense" patient ...get to the point and what are we going to do about it? She would listen to my advice then emphatically and stubbornly tell me what aspects of my advice that she would follow and that she would think about the rest and let me know. For the most part there was no changing her mind. I think that most would agree that she was stubborn... good for her! She had a tough character and confronted problems and adversities head-on. It does not surprise me that she managed to live to be 102 years old.
I looked forward to my visits with her. Her mannerisms were unique, and her comments were witty and sarcastic. I enjoyed spending time with her... she was entertaining.
Catherine "Kitty" Gentilcore was truly "one of a kind".
