Catherine "Cathy" Hickling, born on February 20, 1947, was called to her eternal rest on April 20, 2025, at the age of 78. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her kindness and devotion.
Cathy dedicated much of her professional life as the Head Teller at Wachovia Bank, where she served diligently and was known for her integrity and commitment to her work. Beyond her career, she faithfully served the Lord for many years, finding joy and fulfillment in her spiritual journey.
She was preceded in death by her loving family members: her mother Nettie Shannon, her father Raymond Shannon Sr., her beloved husband Walter Hickling, her sisters Adele King (David) and Annie Mae Shannon, and her brother Raymond Shannon Jr. (Clara Ann).
Cathy is survived by her devoted daughters, Stephanie Hickling Beckman (Patricia) and Danyel Hickling (Cheryl), who cherish her memory and continue her legacy. She is also survived by her sisters Valine Thrash (Asa) and Peggy Monroe (Sam), who shared in her life's joys and challenges.
Her grandchildren, Nyzaya Hickling Beckman and BreAna Brown, as well as her great-grandchild Landon Crawford, brought immense happiness to her life. Cathy's spirit will live on through her many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends who were blessed to know her kindness and warmth.
In remembering Cathy, we celebrate a life filled with love, dedication, and faith. Her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family and faith will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
