Reverend Catherine "Cathy" Reeves Malloy transitioned from labor to reward on July 14, 2025 at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA on the 95th heavenly birthday of her beloved mother, Bernice Reeves. Cathy was born on July 30, 1950 in
Trenton, NJ to her biological parents, Henry Sims and Emma Jane Mims. In 1960, Cathy and her younger brother Henry "Hanky-boy" Reeves were lovingly adopted by their great uncle and aunt, Robert and Bernice Reeves.
Cathy was educated in the Trenton Public School System, graduating from Trenton Central High School in 1969. Cathy went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC in 1974. After graduating from college, Cathy relocated back to
Trenton, NJ and began her employment with the State of NJ, Department of Human Services Office of Child Support in 1977. In 1982 she met Frank Malloy Jr. and they later married on September 6, 1986. From this union three beautiful daughters were born: Casey, Corey and Kelly.
Cathy's greatest and dearest blessing in her life was her salvation! She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1983 after being led by her spiritual mother, the late Sarah McCullough. It was through Sarah that Cathy was discipled and began cultivating her Christian journey. She joined the historic Shiloh Baptist Church in
Trenton, NJ in 1986 and was baptized on May 18, 1986 by Reverend. S. Howard Woodson Jr. It was at this moment that Cathy put her heart and hands to the gospel plow and by the grace and mercy of God, she never looked back. Cathy became very active and committed to Christian ministry at Shiloh for almost four decades.
Under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Darrell L. Armstrong, Cathy served in numerous capacities at Shiloh. She served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years, member of Shiloh Pastor's Aide Ministry, facilitator for Monday and Friday Night Bible Studies, facilitator for Wednesday Morning Glory Service, Director of Shiloh's Angels Choir, bible study facilitator for I.C.Y.C., a youth advisor for Junior Missionaries, and Director of Creative Drama Ministry. She also worked diligently for many years with Vacation Bible School and was an active member of the Anna Louise White Missionary Ministry. Her greatest joy was Christian Education where she was appointed to serve as the Director of Christian Education and as Sunday School Superintendent in 2005; a position she held for 15 years before retiring.
In 2007, Cathy earned her Master of Science Degree in Bible from Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University), and subsequently in 2008 she received her ministerial license to preach at Shiloh Baptist Church. After dedicating nearly four decades to the State of NJ, Department of Human Services, Cathy retired after 38 years and 10 months of faithful service. One of Cathy's most significant chapters in her life was her 45 years of sobriety; a walk she embraced with strength, grace and unwavering faith. She mentored many others in recovery, offering compassion and guidance to those walking a similar path. Most recently, after years of faithful service, spiritual growth and dedication to the call of ministry; on December 29, 2024 she was ordained by Pastor Darrell L. Armstrong and the Shiloh Baptist Church of
Trenton, NJ, which is dually aligned with the ABC, USA Inc & NBC USA Inc. denominations.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, father Robert Reeves, biological father Henry Sims, mother Bernice Reeves, biological mother Emma Jane Mims; sisters, Henrietta Tillman Brown, Doris Tillman Pitts, Ruthalie "Ruth" Causey Christie; brothers, Henry "Hank" Robert Reeves, Kevin Sims and Calvin Smith.
