Catherine "Kitty" Sheridan

Catherine "Kitty" Sheridan (Nee Dunne) born May 27th, 1923 in County Meath, Ireland and died on August 11th, 2025 in NYC at the grand age of 102. Catherine married Cornelius Sheridan in New York and they went on to have seven children. Catherine is predeceased by her husband: Cornelius; and her children: Mary, Michael, and Patricia. Catherine is survived by her children: John (Marybeth), Kitty (Chris), Ann, and Connie (Herman); granddaughters: Kate (Tommy), and Skylar (Connor), as well as numerous nieces and nephews on Long Island, NY and back home in Ireland.
Later on in life, Catherine decided to re-enter the work force and was hired on the spot when her interviewer learned that Catherine had raised a large family of seven. Catherine spent 16 years as a dedicated nurse's aide at Parkview Nursing Home in Riverdale.
Catherines greatest joy was her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed a nice day at the beach, tending to her backyard garden, cooking dinners for her large family gatherings, baking her great brown breads and Irish soda breads, and above all, she enjoyed a good cup of tea (not too much milk!)
Catherine was recognized with a commemorative letter by the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, in May 2024 upon reaching the age of 101. She was also recognized in May 2025 with a commemorative coin from the Irish Government for reaching the age of 102.
Catherine will be greatly missed with love and fondness by her family and friends. She left a lasting impression on all she met.
Reposing will be held on Friday, August 15th from 3-7pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 9:30 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Interment will follow at St. Raymonds Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
