Catherine Joy (Kujala) Swenski 59, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on August 30, 2025. Cathy was born on March 20, 1966 to Charlotte and Leslie Kujala of Iron Mountain Michigan. Cathy graduated from Kingsford High School in 1984. Her joys in life were - She loved raising her son and spending time with her grandchildren. Especially baking with them. Enjoyed time with her husband at their property in Amasa and the Kujala Family Camp. Shared adventures with her niece Shelly, searching for Yooper rocks. Going on annual sister trips. She had a special fondness for loons and kept a watchful eye for them. Cathy put a mark on the world with her time at Red Cross, Preschool bus driver, and her concrete leaves. You may have crossed paths with her at St Vincent DePaul, she was an avid shopper. Cathy is survived by her husband Mark; son, Lance (Ashley) Kujala, Stepchildren Olivia (Nick) Chartier, Justin (Jessica) Swenski; brothers: Conrad Kujala, Jack (Diane) Kujala, and Jeffrey (Patty) Kujala; sisters, Nancy (John) D'Amour, Jean VanWinkle, Linda (Brad) Ross. Her husband Marks family; Eugene and MaryAnn Swenski, Paula Swenski, Camille (Dave) Butsic, Terese Bujold, grandchildren Mia, Natalie, Journee, Skylar, Julian. As well as many, many nieces, and nephews. Cathy was preceded in death by Leslie and Charlotte Kujala; brothers, Wayne Kujala, Steven Kujala, Theodore Kujala, Michael Kujala, Doug Kujala and infant brother, Richard; sister, Fay Lemke; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Kujala, Joan Kujala, and Pamela Kujala; brother-in-law, Gary Lemke; nephews, Lucas VanWinkle, Thomas Kujala and Cory Lemke; and great nephew, Owen Ellis. There will be a private celebration of life with her family. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Catherine J. Swenski online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com. The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
