Catherine S. (Sabol) Varady, 75, wife of the late Joseph R. Varady of Phoenixville, PA peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
Born on July 7, 1949 in Phoenixville, PA she was the daughter of the late Michael G. and Anna (Matonak) Sabol. Following graduation from Phoenixville Area High School in June 1967, she was employed by the Phoenixville Area School District in the Superintendent's Office for which she was employed for 41 1/2 years. She served under 14 Superintendents and several Substitute Superintendents. Following her retirement in 2009, Cathy was employed as part-time administrative assistant to the pastor of Sacred Heart Church until the parish closed in 2012.
Cathy is survived by two sons, Kevin Varady and fiancé Anna Loro and Matthew husband of Mercedes Varady and 4 grandchildren, Kyle, Andrew, Gunnar, and Teagan. She is also survived by brothers, Michael husband of Kathleen Sabol and Edward husband of Dorothy Sabol, and two nieces and two nephews.
During Cathy's years of employment in the Phoenixville Area School District, she served on many committees such as Phoenixville Community Education Foundation. She was also part of the original committee that brought Relay for Life to Phoenixville in 2004 and served on the committee for several years following. She served on the Education Foundation Pack a Backpack Committee for several years as well.
In 2006, Cathy was inducted into the Phoenixville Area School District Wall of Fame. She was recognized for her service to the School District, Sacred Heart Church, and the Phoenixville Community.
Upon the closing of Sacred Heart Parish in June 2012, Cathy and her husband Joe joined St. Basil's Parish in Kimberton, PA where she volunteered for several years assisting with parish office duties.
Cathy loved to cross-stitch. She was a devoted mother to her sons Kevin and Matthew and "Grandmom" to her grandchildren, Kyle, Andrew, Gunnar, and Teagan.
It was always Cathy's belief that "It's those little acts of kindness that really makes a difference."
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass in St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2340 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A visitation will be held in church 9:45 to 10:45 am.
