Cathy Lynn Sides

Cathy Lynn Sides, 62, was surrounded by loved ones at her home as she went to be with our Lord on March 4, 2023 in Chico.
Cathy was born on May 13th, 1960 to Lawrence and Bobbie Hesteande in Decatur, Texas, and was raised in Slidell. She married Jackie Sides on June 3rd, 1978, and they made a home in Chico for them and their children.
Known as Hot Nana by her grandchildren, Cathy loved spending time with her family, attending ball games, riding her motorcycle, drinking bloody Mary's and frequenting Winstar when she got the chance.
Cathy spent most of her career working with animals and was an advocate against animal cruelty. She worked in animal services for the city of Decatur and Wise County for the past 30 plus years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jackie Sides; her parents, Lawrence, Bobbie, and Barbara Hesteande; her sisters Penny Shurbet, and Brenda Walker; her brothers, John and Rusty Hesteande; and her grandson, Barrett Sides.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Dusty Sides and wife Brandi, Lana Simmons and husband Josh, Toby Sides and wife Mary, step daughter Melissa Berry and husband Travis; her sisters, Ruth Swanson, Amy Adams, Jill Richards; and her 14 grandchildren.
The family will be holding a celebration of her life on March 11, 2023 @ 2:00 at the Chico Community Center and ask that in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to the Wise County animal shelter in her memory. Donations can be made by dropping them off at the shelter, dropping off at the Wise County Treasury office, or giving them to any of her kids and they will drop off.
