Cecelia Marie Quilty, age 66, of Plano, Illinois, passed away on July 3rd, 2025 in Plano.
Cecelia was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles and Mary Lent on September 20th, 1958. She lived on the east coast until her family moved to Naperville, Illinois when she was a teenager. Cecelia met the love of her life, Michael Quilty, and the two were married at the Century Memorial Chapel in Naperville on October 13th, 1979 in Naperville, IL.
Mike and Cecelia began building their life together and moved to Plano, Illinois in 1984 where they raised their children Ryan and Rebecca. Cecelia was an amazing mother to her children as they would tell her. She and Mike raised their children to be generous, selfless, and to trust in God for all things. Cecelia was her children’s biggest cheerleader. She always encouraged them to pursue their passions. She would celebrate their successes, and be a calm comfort in the storms of life.
Cecelia eventually pursued a degree from Aurora University, and graduated summa cum laude, even while raising young children. During her professional career, Cecelia worked for a variety of companies in the IT field as both a programmer and project manager.
Cecelia was a creative soul who loved painting, writing, and creating elaborate miniatures that would immerse you in the scene when you looked at them. She loved Irish culture and music. The Quilty home was often filled with Irish music especially as she worked on her miniatures. She enjoyed reading and watching old movies with her husband in their living room, a place of many family memories. Cecelia lived for the Christmas season, bringing joy to others. She reveled in family gatherings and finding the perfect gifts for family and friends.
Cecelia loved being a grandmother. She was known as Grandmom and Nana to her grandchildren. Spending time with her grandchildren brought life and joy to her spirit. She enjoyed watching them play, doing crafts with them, telling them stories, and having conversations on the phone. Cecelia always tried to point them to God and celebrated as each accepted Jesus as their savior. Her faith in God was strong and steadfast in every season of life.
Cecelia is preceded in death by her son, Ryan Quilty and her parents Charles and Mary Lent. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Michael Quilty, her daughter Rebecca (Ben) Sperry, her brother Charlie (Gretchen) Lent, her sister Karen Chaplin, her brothers Mark Lent and Gary (Miranda) Lent, her stepmother Nancy Lent, and her wonderful grandchildren Silas VanderMey, Jack Sperry, Molly Sperry and Clara Sperry.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 26th at Village Bible Church in Plano, Illinois.
