Princeton - Cecelia Sims, 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at OSF St. Anthony, in Rockford, IL. She was born on July 6, 1946, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, Illinois, the eighth of ten children born to the late Paul and Agatha (Taylor) Sims.
When Cecelia was four, her family moved to Tiskilwa, IL, where she and her siblings worked on the family farm. She attended school in Tiskilwa and graduated with the Class of 1964. Cecelia went on to study at Rockford Memorial Hospital, where she became a Radiologic Technologist and later added a mammographer to her certifications. She dedicated her professional life to caring for others, working at local hospitals throughout her career.
In 1978, she received the greatest blessing of her life, daughter Angela Maria. Cecelia cherished Angela, and later, her son-in-law Robert Wright, and their three sons: Isaac Allen, Mason Grant, and Carter Lee. Her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, three fantastic young men whom she loved more than she knew she was capable of. ("I love you mucho!!!")
Cecelia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Paul and Agatha; her siblings Charles Sims, Elizabeth Sims Downey, William Cletus Sims, Mary Ann Sims, and Edward Sims; her sisters-in-law Phyllis Elmore Sims, Mary Jo (Alpaugh) Sims, and Thedus Mayo Sims; and her brothers-in-law Joseph Downey and Donald Houston.
She is survived by her devoted daughter Angela Sims (Robert) Wright and her treasured grandchildren Isaac, Mason, and Carter Wright. She also leaves behind her sisters Jennirose Houston, Clara (George) Janet, and Carol (Mark) Albrecht, one brother Fred (Sharon) Sims; along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Cecelia lived a full and meaningful life, one rich with family gatherings, holiday traditions. Gathering with siblings and watching the cousins build everything from forts to forever friendships was something she loved to do, nothing compared to her love for daughter Angela, but the grands and Robert ran a close second. Her warmth, strength, and love of family will be remembered always.
