Mrs. Cecelia Diggs Usrey, 75, passed away March 8, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 22, 1949, to the late William Curtis Diggs and Mary Frances Jordan Diggs. Celia was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church for many years and kept the children there in the full-time day care. She dearly loved her grandchildren as their “Ganny”. It was said by all who knew her that she made the “Best” Fried Chicken.
Left to cherish her memory are; three children Lori U. Parham (Todd), Sarah U. Swain (Todd) and Hank Usrey (Meredith), four grandchildren, Grace Parham Houser (Zachary), Jack Parham, Adelyn Usrey, and Ella Usrey, one sister Judy Edwards.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Robert Dixon. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina PO Box: 7413 Six Forks Rd., #255 Raleigh, NC 27615 or to Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem at 305 W 4th St Suite #B11, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
