Cecilia Ryan Obituary
Born May 29, 1944 in Pueblo, Colorado to Cecil & Ruby Worthington. Karen passed on Oct 29, 2024 in Medford, Oregon at the age of 80.
Karen graduated from Crater High School in Central Point in 1962 and married Howard Sollinger in 1964. They were married 30 years and had 2 children Herb and Connie.
Karen married Robert Ryan 23 years ago on June 30, 2001 at the age of 57 and added Bob's 2 girls Marcy and Rene to her family.
Karen worked in various jobs including pear packing at Modoc packing house, Dairy Queen in White City and also worked as a healthcare office receptionist at Medford Clinic and Providence in Central Point. Karen's favorite job though was being a mom and a grandmother. Karen helped raise 2 younger sisters Rhonda and Valarie. Her sisters were 6 and 14 years younger so she got a lot of practice helping raise kids at a young age.
With her own kids, Herb Sollinger and Connie Dunn, she wanted to be involved with everything. She would get off work early or play hooky to make it to every game or activity and would often volunteer for things like Boy Scout's leader or chaperone a high school band or choir trip. All of Herb & Connie's friends would call her mom & she would always talk them into hugs as they arrived and left the house.
Karen had very special relationships with her daughter-in-law Sonny and her son-in-law Brady both who played to Karen's sarcastic side and she loved to banter with them whenever possible.
Karen was rich with grandchildren. Herbie, Ainsley, Kelsey, Peyton and Nyah, Logan and great granddaughter Corinna were all spoiled as often as possible by their grandma. An abundance of pictures of each of them line every wall and frame worthy surface in her home.
After retiring Karen enjoyed hanging out with family and camping with the families of Crater Bass Club.
Chapel and brief graveside services will be held Wednesday November 27th, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 2201 N Phoenix Rd, Medford, Celebration of Life reception to follow at Centennial Golf course club house from 2:30-4:30. 1900 N Phoenix Rd, Medford, OR
