Celia Horton

Cecelia "Celia" Ann Horton, age 74 of Waverly, TN, passed away at her residence on Friday, March 28, 2025. She was born on March 27, 1951, in Waverly, TN to the late Madie Ophelia McGee Bowman and James Lee Bowman. Celia was in the Class of 1969 at Waverly Central High School. She helped her father at Skinny's Restaurant and later at the Eat N Time. Celia was a breast cancer survivor. She was a member at Waverly United Methodist Church. Celia enjoyed gardening, cooking, and attending her children and grandchildren's baseball games. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Left to cherish Celia's memory is her husband of 44 years, Mitchell Horton of Waverly, TN; daughter, Crystel James (Andy) of Waverly, TN; son, Jacob Horton (Ashley) of Waverly, TN; grandchildren, Kayla Leigh James, Xavier Mekel James, and Anniston Rose James; great grandchildren, Leighla Ann Fuller, Zyler Michael Fuller, Trinity Mae Fuller, and expecting, Kayce Layne Fisher in July 2025; and brother, Jeff Bowman (Renee) of Waverly, TN.
Along with her parents, Celia is preceded in death by her sister, Shelia Belcher.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, beginning at 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Apex Bank Community Center in Waverly.
