Obituary for Cesaltina Ferreira Leach
Cesaltina Ferreira Leach, affectionately known as Carolin, Cesa, Nana, Nani, and Mommy, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on April 19, 1962, in Praia, Cabo Verde, Cesaltina began her life's journey with strength, love, and unwavering determination.
At just 20 years old, she emigrated to the United States, first settling in Framingham, MA, as an au pair before moving to Washington, D.C., where she continued her work in childcare. She made the heartbreaking decision to leave behind her beloved firstborn, Marco, in the hope of building a better future. Once she was more settled, she reunited with Marco in America, continuing their journey together.
Cesaltina later moved to Boston, Massachusetts - a turning point in her life. There, she met the father of her twin daughters, Kimberly and Kelley, and gave birth to them. A few years later, she met her beloved husband, George Leach. Together, they built a life rooted in love and welcomed their daughter, Deneisha.
A devoted Catholic, Cesaltina found peace and spiritual comfort at St. Patrick's Church in Boston. Her faith, like her heart, was strong and steady - a source of light for herself and for those around her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience through her children: Marco, Kimberly, Kelley, and Deneisha; her siblings: Fransisco ("Chico"), Filomena, Fatinha, Carolina, Elder Glen, Martina, David, and Saundra; and her grandchildren: Helio, Elika, Alex, Zamiyah, Arya, and Jade. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joana and Marcelino Ferreira; her loving husband, George Leach; her mother-in-law, Mary Leach; and her cherished sister, Bia.
To know Cesaltina was to know kindness. She was a mother to many - not just by blood, but by spirit. Strong-willed and selfless, she often put others' needs before her own. Her presence lit up every room with her humor, her deep love for her family, and her famous attempts at dancing (though she never quite mastered the moves - which was part of her charm).
May her beautiful soul find eternal rest. May she be reunited with those she loved and lost. And may the warmth, laughter, and love she gave so freely continue to live on in all of us.
Rest in peace, Cesaltina. You were everything to many and meant so much to all.
