Chad E. Engel

Chad Edward Engel, 52, of Oregon, IL passed away Friday May 26, 2023 at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born July 20, 1970 in Freeport, IL to Billy and Sonja (Engebretson) Engel. On June 7, 2006 he married Teresa Whitaker in Las Vegas, NV. Chad was employed at H.A. International for over 30 years as a Shipping Coordinator and in most recent years he was a dispatcher for Maplehurst Farms, which he really enjoyed. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, playing guitar while channeling his inner Eddie Van Halen, and spending time in his garage, where he was known to be very handy and mechanical. Most importantly, Chad enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Teresa of Oregon, IL; children Cole Engel of Topeka, KS, Corena Engel of Freeport, IL, Jennifer (Tom) Longo of Freeport, IL, Matt Collazo of Texas, and Chrissy (Adam Van Buskirk) Collazo of Oregon, IL; three brothers Corey (Jamie) Engel of Freeport, IL, Chris (Jean) Engel of Freeport, IL, and Craig (Chris) Dale of Freeport, IL; five grandchildren Tommy Longo, Drake Longo, Maddux Longo, Draven Collazo, and baby Engel on the way; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Cooper.
Preceding Chad in death are his parents, brother Curtis, and two sisters Pammy and Tammy.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday June 25 from 11:00 A.M-5:00 P.M. at 706 Madison Street, Oregon, IL 61061. Per Chad's wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial has been established in his memory.
