Chad Christopher Mallett, a beloved son, father, and talented musician, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Sunset, Louisiana. Chad was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1971, in Opelousas, Louisiana and lived a life filled with love, creativity, and a passion for both music and technology.
Chad dedicated his professional career to the field of IT, serving the State of Louisiana with distinction. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, which laid the foundation for his successful career.
Outside of his professional life, Chad was known not just for his skills in IT but as an outstanding musician and guitarist. With a flair for storytelling that captivated anyone ready to listen, he often crafted his own songs, showcasing his profound love for music. He found joy in building homemade guitars and sharing the stage with his band, Gold Dust Empire, leaving a lasting impact on those who enjoyed his performances.
Chad's personality shone brightly; he was loving, compassionate, and intelligent, blessed with a quick wit that brought laughter to many. He enjoyed immersing himself in the worlds created by Stephen King and Sci-Fi novels. He also enjoyed reading science and physics books reflecting his thirst for knowledge.
Chad is survived by his two sons, Jonah and Julian Mallett, both of Broussard; his father, Leonard Mallett of Lafayette; his sister, Monica Breaux (Eddie) of Shreveport; and his nephews, Lucas and Tommy Breaux.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Mallett.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte with a rosary being recited at 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Ville Platte starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Rider Cemetery with Father Mitchell Guidry officiating services.
Chad Mallett will be remembered for his contributions to his family, his community, and the musical world he cherished. His legacy will continue to inspire and remind those who knew him of the joy and creativity he brought into their lives.
