Selkirk, NY- Charlene M. Denney-
Born March 10, 1943 passed peacefully from this world on May 22,2025. Charlene was the
beloved wife of Raymond F. Denney, Jr., with whom she shared a devoted and loving marriage
of 62 years. She was the esteemed and cherished mother of Kimberly C. Denney-Jones (D.),
Raymond F. Denney III, and Lynette H. (Denney) Torres, treasured grandmother to Jason F.
Denney, Christina H. Denney, Deanna N. Denney, Kayla A. Denney, Olivia C. Denney, Isabella
M. Denney, and Sebastian J. Torres. Her loving family includes her daughter-in-law Annemarie
(Carey) Denney ( wife of Raymond Denney III), son-in-law Jerry Gardner (husband of Lynette
Torres), son-in-law Dr. Adolfo Torres ( late husband of Lynette Torres), and her dear siblings:
Ada Truesdale, Patricia Jaramillo (D.), Edith Sankowski (D.), Joyce Eckert, Thomas Kemmer
(D.), Doris Simon, Robert Kemmer, John Kemmer, Larry Kemmer, Lois Hendrick, Anthony
Kemmer, and William Kemmer.
After graduating Duanesburg High School, she dedicated herself to a life of service and
hard work. She lived and worked at the Albany Bible Institute on State Street in Albany, as well
as working at the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. She then married the love of her life,
Raymond F. Denney Jr., and together they lived a life devoted to each other and to Christ.
During their life together, she worked alongside her husband bookkeeping for Normanskill
Septic Tank Cleaners, as well as working in the field. In her later career, she returned to the
NYS Department of Motor Vehicles where she was one of the original advocates for the ban on
smoking in the workplace. She served her community as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and a
Sunday School teacher.
She was honest, kind, generous-of-spirit, funny, and wise - a woman of integrity. You never
knew what she was going say that would make you laugh out loud. She smiled with her whole
soul. Her laugh was infectious. She had a deep faith that informed all her decisions and ways
of being. You felt better just by being near her. She felt comfortable in silence.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, singing, music, reading, and spending time with friends
and family.
Above all, she was an excellent devoted wife and mother. She gave everything for her
family. She was selfless and long-suffering without complaint. Her family and friends will long
remember her love, guidance, and sacrifice on their behalf.
Charlene's Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 28th at 11: 00am at the:
First Reformed Church of Bethlehem
